Day 1 - Roncesvalles to Zubiri: Dodging Lightening...

 

Today we set out on the Camino walking from Roncesvalles to Zubiri. The day started out cold and rainy. We walked through some amazing forests...

and finding those photographic moments...

Sadly, the rain did not stop. It just kept coming down harder and harder. At one point we had small bits of hail. Then about 5 miles before getting to our first stop it started to Rain even harder, lighening was flashing around us and the thunder rolled through the valleys below. Sounds a bit dramatic and it was. Gladly we were somewhat protected by the forest around us. As luck would have it the whole weather situation calmed down just as we were crossing the bridge into Zubiri. 

We had quite the adventure. You gotta love nature in all of its grandeur.
